Okay, so this post isn't about Yosemite; but it is about Hammocking! For this year's Earth Day which was celebrated in April, my friend and I decided to head up to the foothills here in Fresno near Millerton Lake. We didn't quite have any plans but we knew that we wanted to set up our hammocks and just relax for a little while.
So, we did just that. I'll let you in on a secret, for a long time I was apprehensive about hammocking before I actually caved in and bought one for myself. I just wasn't sure if I would enjoy it. When all of my friends kept saying "Oh, you need to go hammocking" I just didn't understand why you would want to just go somewhere to literally hang out and nap.
Well, after my first experience hammocking back last October, I have kind of been hooked. To my surprise, it is actually one of the most relaxing and peaceful things ever. After researching good hammocks (because I need to know about the product before purchasing, of course!) I went out to REI and decided to purchase my very own Eno (Eagles Nest Outfitters) Hammock. Seriously, I love, love, love my Eno. It's so sturdy and even packs into a tiny bag that is attached to also be used as a pocket while you're hanging around. I've had friends complain that their hammocks (of different brands) get easy wear and tear for some reason, but I have never noticed any wear or tear on my Eno. And also, every person I have met who has an Eno always raves about it and agrees that theirs has never worn out. If you're looking to buy a hammock, seriously look into Eno! When hammocking, sometimes it is tricky to find trees or good sturdy rocks to tie my hammock to; but when I find a good spot, it's amazing. Nothing is better than finding a place to hang your hammock and to just lay in it, allowing the wind to sway you to and fro all the while just looking at all the scenery and taking in nature beneath the shade from the tree. It's one of the most relaxing things I have ever experienced.
If you haven't hammocked before and/or are apprehensive about it, I'm telling you, you gotta get out and hang in a hammock. It will be life changing for sure! I never go anywhere without my hammock now. Even in Yosemite, there are so many great places to hang your hammock (as long as they're not hanging off any of the Sequoia Trees, that's illegal!) and to relax in the scenery.
If my words haven't convinced you yet, maybe my photos from Earth Day will. Check it out. . .
Anyway, for realsy . . . check out Eno and go hang in a hammock. In fact, let's do it together! Hit me up. . .
